Children and adolescents can experience sleep-disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnea, like adults. An estimated 1-6% of all children and adolescents have obstructive sleep apnea. The sleep disruptions and pauses in breathing from sleep apnea may be linked to obesity, lipid disorders, elevated blood pressure and changes in heart structure in kids. Source
